Injury Management

As both sportsperson and professional myself, I understand that any injury can cause frustration and disruption to training schedules and to everyday life.

Heavy training sessions can place increased strain and stress on muscles and joints which can initially present as minor aches and pains but if left untreated may develop into more serious injuries.

Ultrasound Therapy

Shoulder Inflammation

The Sports Therapy Co is one of only handful of sports massage providers across the country who can offer Ultrasound Therapy.

It is important to recognise that there are some circumstances when manual therapies such as sports massage, osteopathy & chiropractic may not be the most appropriate means of injury or rehab treatment.

For example on a sprained ankle it is very difficult to apply ‘manual’ treatment to the ligament(s) involved, especially if inflammation is still present.

Ultrasound Therapy has been used by therapists over the last 50 years to treat soft tissue injuries. It is a painless but very effective means of treating damaged soft tissue and in some cases bone and can provide acceleration of the natural healing process, improved ‘quality’ of repair and increased extensibility of ligaments, tendons, scar tissue and fibrous joint capsules. It can also provide a reduction in pain and muscle spasm.

Rehabilitation

Nicki works closely with some of the best personal trainers, pilates instructors, sports coaches and nutritionists in the south east to provide a complete rehabilitation package for all.

Occupational Injuries

Occupational and everyday injuries and disorders such as RSI, whiplash, poor posture, heavy lifting, strains and sprains and of course stress related problems can also benefit significantly from the therapies available.

“After being diagnosed with a compressed nerve in my neck - resulting in painful muscle spasms in my arm and hand - I was referred to Nicki by my GP to help ease the stiff and tense muscles which were exacerbating the problem. Her excellent manual skills coupled with the use of ultrasound have definitely eased the pain and lessened the spasms. In particular I have appreciated her friendly and respectful approach and would recommend Nicki to anyone needing treatment from a knowledgeable and sensitive massage therapist.”
